Walzin Castle, Belgium
One of the largest Belgian castles and one of the most beautiful defensive structures in Belgium. It is located in the southern part of the country near the village of Walzin in Wallonia and was built in the 11th century.
It stands on a 50-meter rock, which made it not only a residence but also a fortress used to defend and control the surrounding area.
Throughout its history, it was repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt. Only the 11th-century watchtowers and the 15th-century horseshoe-shaped tower have survived to this day.
Today, Walzin Castle is privately owned, so it cannot be visited inside, but it can be clearly seen from the opposite bank of the river.
