The Cat Alley in The Hague, Netherlands
The Achterom alley in the center of The Hague was once a dark and unwelcoming place. The Municipality of The Hague decided to transform its atmosphere and launched a project to renovate such alleyways. The area was cleaned up, new lighting was installed, and the walls were decorated with illustrations of cats. Today, the alley has turned into a unique open-air gallery.
There are 17 cats in total on the walls, each with its own personality and story. The artists included many charming details: playful kittens, a tiny rat, and even a downspout that was cleverly transformed into a cat scratching post.
