Lier, Belgium
Lier is one of the oldest cities in Flanders. It is located near Antwerp.
The city, with its thousand-year history, attracts visitors with its picturesque canals and architectural heritage.
One of the main attractions is the Zimmer Tower with its unique astronomical clock. It shows not only the time, but also the movement of the planets, the phases of the moon, and other phenomena.
Here you can also see the Church of Saint Gummarus in the Brabantine Gothic style and the 18th-century Town Hall, which combines elements of Gothic and Rococo.
The waterfronts and quiet streets of the center are ideal for walking. Additionally, in the city museum (Stadsmuseum Lier), you can see a replica of the skeleton of the famous “mammoth of Lier,” which was found here in the 19th century.
