Hasselt, Belgium
Hasselt is the capital of the Belgian province of Limburg, located in the eastern part of northern Belgium. It’s a city where history harmoniously blends with modernity.
The city’s main and most famous landmark is the Japanese Garden (Japanse Tuin). It is the largest traditional Japanese garden in Europe, which is especially beautiful during the cherry blossom season and in the autumn due to the vibrant maples.
One of the most pleasant places for a stroll in the city is Herkenrode Abbey (Abdij van Herkenrode). This is a former convent with an 800-year history, where medieval architecture and well-kept gardens have been preserved.
There is also the Fashion Museum (Modemuseum), which is one of the few in Belgium entirely dedicated to the history of fashion and design.
