Église Notre-Dame et Saint-Remacle, Spa, Belgium
One of the main landmarks of Spa, located in the very center of the city. It was built in 1885 in the Neo-Romanesque Rhenish style on the site of a building that had stood here since the 15th century.
The church attracts attention with its solid stone architecture and richly decorated interior. The main altar and the pulpit are made of marble, while the walls and vaults are adorned with frescoes depicting biblical scenes.
Queen Marie-Henriette often visited this church while she was living in Spa. She donated a stained-glass window and an elegant lectern in the shape of an eagle. These gifts are still preserved and are considered an important part of the church’s history.
Today, the church is open to visitors, functions as an active parish church, and remains an important symbol of the spiritual and historical heritage of Spa.
